Driver Announcement - Marlo Cordell
We are thrilled to announce our return to the MINI Challenge paddock for the upcoming season!
It’s only right to unveil the first driver of our 2024 campaign is Marlo Cordell.
The 20 years old initially partnered with us midway through the 2021 season, making his debut in the ST150 class of the BRSCC Fiesta Championship. Despite the challenge of competing alongside more powerful ST240 cars, he dominated his class, securing six podiums and an impressive third place in the ST150 standings during his rookie campaign, despite missing the first two rounds. Cordell also showcased his talent in the Britcar Endurance Championship, achieving a double T2 class win during the 'Into the Night' races at Brands Hatch alongside JamSport boss Jamie Going.
Moving up into the turbo-charged ST240 class in 2022, he brought home a top-eight championship finish with his best result of the campaign coming in the season finale at Brands Hatch, where he crossed the line in second. Cordell also spent the year working alongside JamSport’s TCR UK team as a development driver.
Eager to progress to the next level in his career, Cordell graduated into the MINI Challenge as one of a number of rookies to compete in the JCW class last season. Marlo had an unlucky season last year but is determined to come back stronger. Marlo will aslo advantage from having team mates to utilise this season and will be working closely with previous MINI Challenge champion, Ant Whorton-Eales.
"I’m looking forward to returning to the MINI Challenge paddock this season with Jamsport Racing. Following a season marked by setbacks and pesonal trials, i feel refocused and prepared to capitalise on the opportunities of the upcoming 2024 racing season with Jamsport Racing."
Team boss Going said he was confident that Cordell will impress on track this year. “Marlo came to us with very minimal experience and completed his first full season in 2022," he said. "We decided to make Marlo our development driver in 2022 and by doing this, he gained lots of invaluable skills and experience by being in and around not only our Fiesta team but also our TCR team.
"He’s gone from strength to strength since and I’m very proud of what Marlo has achieved despite some set backs and look forward to the season ahead."
